- Served as Barack Obama’s state director for the Iowa caucuses. Over the course of a year, Paul and his team built the largest grassroots organization in caucus history, culminating in a win that launched Obama’s historic campaign.
- Ran the successful campaign to defeat President Bush’s plan to privatize Social Security in 2005. The victory propelled an organization that he helped found, Americans United for Change, into the forefront of progressive issue fights today.
- Worked as the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee’s National Coordinated Campaign Director in 2001-02 and then as its Political Director in 2003-04.
- Managed the field campaigns of two of the closest U.S. Senate races in the 1998 and 2000 cycles - Senator Russ Feingold’s narrow win and Senator Maria Cantwell’s 2,300-vote win.
